I’m sure many of the English majors reading this see right off the bat, that a few title capitalization grammar rules are broken in this 3-word title. If this is you, you are 100% right! I will explain in this blog why I felt led to leave it this way.
I am currently reading a book by Craig Groeschel titled “Winning the War in Your Mind” (No grammatical errors in this title). In this book, Craig presents tools to change your thinking. The second tool he proposes is called "the Rewire Principle: Rewire your brain, renew your mind." This principle is fascinating to me because it presents a spiritual and natural explanation of how to “Rewire” your brain!
Have you ever been driving down the road and the passenger side front tire hits a rut or small trench? This could be caused by the road being under construction or maybe you veered a little too close to the breakdown lane. You find it takes effort to get the car back onto the road to avoid driving into the ditch. Well, the neural pathways in your brain work the same way. For example, you may be working on your monthly finances, and you are suddenly overcome with fear and thoughts of “What if we don’t have enough? “or “What if I can’t get the things we need?” That’s the rut that’s trying to pull you off the road. That’s the neural pathway that is veering you off course. In the spiritual sense, it is the lie of the enemy that needs to be replaced with the truth of God’s Word!
“There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.” I John 4:18 NKJV
Through Craig’s book, I’m learning the spiritual and natural balance of digging new trenches of truth in the mind by making declarations of what God’s word says (spiritual) and creating new healthy neural pathways in the brain (natural). You can LITERALLY rewire your brain and renew your mind!
“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”
Romans 12:2 NKJV
Scripture is the trench of truth here and the rut that’s trying to pull you off course is based on the lie of the enemy. This morning, in my quiet time with God, I came upon this scripture:
“But the angel answered and said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.” Matthew 28:5-6 NKJV
The angel doesn’t want the ladies that showed up at Jesus’ tomb, to fall into that trench of fear and uncertainty. Instead, the angel puts the Word on it: “He is not here; for He is risen, as He said.” As He said! Hence the title and grammatical errors there. The Bible says that even Jesus Himself said that He will be killed and after three days rise again.
“And He began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again.”
Mark 8:31 NKJV
His Word is true whether we believe it or not, as the ladies at the tomb discovered!
I’ve been making those declarations of the truth of God’s Word, and I genuinely believe that those neutral pathways are improving. I urge everyone reading this to put the Word on it when you are facing fears or uncertainty. Dig a trench of truth when you are veering towards your old mindset and negative thinking. I believe we all struggle with faith from time to time, but God’s Word has always been the truth whether we believe it or not. So, believe and rewire your brain!
As always, friends, be well-fed. Until next time.
